What types of gifts do you like to receive?
I’m not a “things” person, but more of an “experiences” type of person. I’d much prefer the gift of spending time with a loved one in a special place or doing a shared activity, over a new thingamabob. So when I was asked to join a group of friends participating in a charity pickleball tournament to send breast cancer survivors on vacation, I was definitely intrigued.
While I love pickleball, playing in a super competitive format like a tournament isn’t usually that enticing for me. I prefer to play for fun in a low-stakes environment. But this event is also happening in San Diego, one of my favorite places, and it gives the gift of experiences to people who can really benefit from them, so I was hooked.
The event is run by people with direct experience as a breast cancer survivor or loving someone who has been affected. Before I can play in the tournament, however, I have the task of fundraising. And, that’s where you come in. I’d be so honored if you’d consider a tax-deductible gift to my team.
The charity, Send Me On Vacation, does something special. They empower women battling breast cancer by reconnecting them with their essence through guided meditations, self-care workshops, and immersive experiences at beautiful destinations across the globe. These aren’t just vacations but healing journeys designed to help participants regain control and celebrate their resilience. Each 4-to 7-day trip to serene destinations is crafted to rejuvenate spirits and nurture souls, providing a safe space for survivors to heal and rebuild.
By supporting the 2026 Dink for Pink Charity Pickleball Tournament, we can extend our support beyond a single day. Every donation pushes the mission forward, helping to fund more of these essential retreats, aiding each woman in her personal growth and healing journey.
Thank you.
Note to my long-term readers: I know, I haven’t posted in a very long time. 😞 That is not for lack of writing. I’ve written plenty over the last 15 months, as they have been the hardest of my life by far. Writing helps me process, but publishing those words just isn’t right for me yet. I’m working through it all, and trust God to provide healing, but am not in a place to share publicly. I’m happy to catch up 1:1, so let me know if you want to chat. Otherwise, here’s to being still not there yet. 🥂
